Housecall Pro is a reasonable choice for Canadian HVAC, plumbing, and other residential service shops in single-HST provinces, and it is a US product built around US features. It bills in US dollars, applies one tax rate per invoice, and documents several payment features as unavailable in Canada. If you work in a province with separate GST and PST, or in Quebec, look at Jobber first.

Housecall Pro covers the full job cycle for home service businesses: online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates, invoicing, and payments. This review focuses on what a Canadian owner needs to know before signing up: what it costs from Canada, which features are available here, how it handles sales tax, and how cancellation works.

How we evaluated

This is a research-based review. We did not use Housecall Pro hands-on. Everything below comes from Housecall Pro's public pricing page, terms and privacy policy, and help centre articles, all checked in October 2026.

Prices are list prices in USD as shown on Housecall Pro's pricing page. Where Housecall Pro does not publish something for Canada, such as processing rates or payout currency, we say so rather than guess.

Is Housecall Pro available in Canada?

Yes. Housecall Pro's terms say the service is offered to users who are 18 or older and reside in the United States or Canada. Its help centre documents Canadian accounts in several places: a director verification step for Canadian corporations when you set up payouts, separate Instapay limits for Pros in Canada, and Canadian area codes for its Voice phone add-on.

Canadian accounts get a smaller feature set. Housecall Pro's help centre documents these as not available in Canada:

  • Bank (ACH) payments ("ACH is currently only available for businesses based in the U.S.")
  • Card readers ("Card readers are not currently available in Canada")
  • Mobile cheque deposit
  • Automated Sales Tax ("AST is not currently available to our Canadian Pros")
  • Business insurance offered through Housecall Pro
  • Wisetack, its third-party customer lending partner

Its pricing page still lists payments features without a country note, so read these exceptions before you count on a feature.

Housecall Pro pricing in Canada

Housecall Pro's pricing page says, "All prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax." There is no Canadian dollar price list, so your cost moves with the exchange rate, and your credit card may add a foreign transaction fee. Housecall Pro's terms say it collects and remits sales tax where required.

Housecall Pro plans, list prices in USD, checked October 2026.

Basic includes online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments, a price book, job costing, and review management. Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, GPS tracking, commissions, and QuickBooks sync. Max adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, dedicated onboarding, and escalated support.

Housecall Pro also sells add-ons, including Pipeline, CSR AI, Voice, Campaigns, payroll, accounting, websites, and vehicle GPS and dashcams. Most add-on prices are not published on the pricing page. Two that are documented in the help centre: Tap to Pay on Mobile costs USD $5 per month for each user who takes at least one Tap to Pay payment in the billing cycle, and Voice call tracking starts at $45/month plus overages, with VoIP and call tracking from $65/month.

Payments in Canada

Housecall Pro processes card payments for Canadian accounts. When you set up payouts as a Canadian corporation, its help centre says you will be asked for details on all directors, which are verified against provincial or federal business registries.

Its help centre lists these processing fees, without saying which country they apply to:

  • Cards tapped in person with Tap to Pay or a card reader: 2.59%
  • Cards entered online by the customer from an invoice: 2.99%
  • Cards keyed in by staff, scanned, or saved on file: 3.49%
  • American Express and business cards: 3.49%

The pricing page says card processing "starts at 2.59%." Housecall Pro does not publish a separate Canadian rate card, so check the rates in your account before you rely on these numbers.

For Canadian businesses, these payment details matter more than the rates:

  • Bank payments. ACH is US-only, and we found no mention of Interac, Interac e-Transfer, or Canadian pre-authorized debit in Housecall Pro's help centre. Customers who want to pay by bank would pay you outside Housecall Pro.
  • Card readers. Card readers are not available in Canada. The Tap to Pay help article does not list country restrictions, but it also does not confirm Canadian support, so ask during your trial if you take payments on site. Whether it accepts Interac debit is not documented.
  • Payout currency. We could not find a Housecall Pro page saying whether Canadian payouts are made in CAD. Confirm this before you switch.

Standard payouts take 2 business days. Instapay, Housecall Pro's faster payout option, costs 1% on top of standard processing fees, plus $0.75 on transactions under $75. For Pros in Canada, Instapay is limited to $10,000 per transaction ($50,000 in the US) and $100,000 per day.

If you need in-person payments with Interac debit, a separate processor may fit better. See our best payment processor for trades in Canada and Square vs Moneris vs Helcim comparisons.

GST, HST, PST, and QST on invoices

Housecall Pro's help centre says, "Only one tax rate can be applied to an invoice at a time." You can create custom tax rates in your price book and mark individual items as taxable.

In Ontario (13% HST) or the Atlantic provinces (14% or 15% HST), you charge one tax, so one rate per invoice works. In British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec, you charge GST plus a provincial tax. With Housecall Pro you would create one combined rate, such as 12% for BC (5% GST plus 7% PST), and the invoice shows a single tax line rather than separate GST and PST amounts. If your bookkeeper needs those taxes tracked separately for filing, plan for an extra bookkeeping step.

Housecall Pro's Automated Sales Tax feature, which looks up rates by service address, is not available to Canadian Pros. You set Canadian rates yourself. For the current rates, see our GST, HST, and PST rates by province guide, and for what a Canadian invoice needs to show, our contractor invoice requirements guide.

QuickBooks Online and accounting

Housecall Pro's QuickBooks Online integration requires the Essentials or Max plan. Its setup guide lists four supported QuickBooks Online plans (Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced) and says tax rates must match exactly between the two systems, including spelling and capitalization. It also has a QuickBooks Desktop integration.

The guide does not mention the Canadian edition of QuickBooks Online or how Canadian tax codes sync. It may still work; it is simply not documented. Connect your own Canadian QuickBooks file during the free trial and sync a taxed invoice before you move your business over. If you have not picked your books yet, see our QuickBooks Online review and best accounting software in Canada.

Language, data, and support

Language. Housecall Pro says its mobile app is available in English and Spanish for all role levels. We found no French-language option documented. If your crew or customers work in French, particularly in Quebec, factor that in.

Offline use. The mobile app lets you view your schedule and job details without a signal, but Housecall Pro says editing in offline mode is not supported.

Data location. Housecall Pro's privacy policy says personal information "may be stored and processed in the United States" and that Housecall Pro does not maintain facilities outside the US but uses service providers in the US and Mexico. It does not mention a Canadian data centre, Canadian privacy law, or Quebec's Law 25. Based on its documentation, Housecall Pro does not offer Canadian data residency.

Support hours. Phone support runs Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific, and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific. Chat runs the same weekday hours and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific on Saturday and Sunday. An AI assistant is available around the clock. In Eastern Time, weekday phone support is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; in Atlantic Time, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Housecall Pro says all support channels are available on every plan.

Free trial, contracts, and cancelling

Housecall Pro offers a 14-day free trial with full access to the Max plan and no credit card required. Its pricing page says it does not require long-term contracts.

Cancelling involves a few steps. Housecall Pro's help centre says you email its cancellations team, its billing team reaches out within 1 to 3 business days, and it cannot fully process a cancellation or pause billing until a team member has spoken with the account owner by phone. It describes a 30-day money-back guarantee on the base monthly subscription fee, but only for customers who were offered the guarantee at sign-up. Setup fees and other charges are not refundable.

Who should use Housecall Pro

  • HVAC and plumbing shops with 3 to 8 techs in an HST province. Essentials includes 5 users, flat-rate pricing, GPS tracking, and commissions, and Max adds recurring service plans for maintenance agreements. In Ontario or Atlantic Canada, one tax rate per invoice covers what you charge.
  • Teams that take most payments online. Online card payments from invoices work for Canadian accounts, and card readers matter less if customers pay from a link.

When another tool may fit better

  • Businesses in BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Quebec that need GST and PST or QST shown separately. Jobber's tax groups handle this; see Jobber vs Housecall Pro in Canada.
  • Teams that work in French. No French option is documented.
  • Anyone who needs Canadian data residency. The privacy policy points to the US and Mexico.
  • Shops that take a lot of in-person or bank payments. Card readers and bank payments are not available in Canada, and Interac support is not documented.
  • Solo operators on a tight budget. Basic is USD $79/month, with QuickBooks sync starting on Essentials. Jobber Core starts at USD $49/month, or a simpler tool may do the job; see best invoicing software for Canadian contractors.

Alternatives

The closest alternative is Jobber, headquartered in Edmonton. It also bills in USD, but it supports tax groups that show GST and PST separately and documents its QuickBooks Online sync as available in Canada. We compare the two in detail in Jobber vs Housecall Pro in Canada.

If you mainly need quotes and invoices rather than dispatch, see our best invoicing software for Canadian contractors. That roundup includes GetMarkup, which is built by Methodical Studio, the publisher of NorthVetted, and is labelled as our product there; we also compare it in GetMarkup vs Jobber vs FreshBooks.

Housecall Pro

4.0

Our verdict

4.0

Housecall Pro is a solid field service tool for Canadian HVAC and plumbing shops in single-HST provinces that want routes, GPS tracking, flat-rate pricing, and five users on the mid tier. Other Canadian businesses should weigh USD billing, one tax rate per invoice, bank payments and card readers being unavailable in Canada, French and Canadian QuickBooks support not being documented, and data handled in the US and Mexico. Use the 14-day trial to send a taxed invoice, take a test payment, and sync it to your QuickBooks file before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Housecall Pro available in Canada?

Yes. Housecall Pro's terms say the service is offered to users who reside in the United States or Canada, and its help centre documents Canadian accounts. Some features are not available in Canada, including bank (ACH) payments, card readers, mobile cheque deposit, and Automated Sales Tax.

How much does Housecall Pro cost in Canada?

Housecall Pro prices in USD with no Canadian dollar price list. On monthly billing, Basic is USD $79/month with 1 user, Essentials is USD $189/month with 5 users, and Max is USD $329/month with 8 users. Annual billing lowers these to USD $59, $149, and $299 a month. Max adds users at USD $35/month each.

Can Housecall Pro show GST and PST separately on an invoice?

What are Housecall Pro's card processing fees?

Housecall Pro's help centre lists 2.59% for cards taken in person with Tap to Pay, 2.99% for cards customers enter online, and 3.49% for manually keyed or saved cards and for American Express and business cards. It does not publish separate Canadian rates, so confirm yours in your account before you rely on these.

Does Housecall Pro sync with QuickBooks Online Canada?

Housecall Pro includes QuickBooks Online sync on its Essentials and Max plans. Its setup guide lists the QuickBooks Online plans it supports but does not mention the Canadian edition, so test the sync with your own Canadian QuickBooks file during the free trial.

Is Housecall Pro available in French?

Not that we could find. Housecall Pro says its mobile app is available in English and Spanish. We found no French-language option documented on its site or in its help centre.

Is there a Housecall Pro free trial or contract?

Housecall Pro offers a 14-day free trial with full access to its Max plan and no credit card required, and it says it does not require long-term contracts. To cancel, its help centre says you email its cancellations team and an account owner must speak with a team member by phone.
