If you run a plumbing, HVAC, electrical, landscaping, or cleaning business in Canada, Jobber and Housecall Pro are the two field service tools you will hear about most. Both handle the full job cycle: request, quote, schedule, dispatch, invoice, and get paid. The differences that matter for a Canadian owner are less about the feature list and more about currency, sales tax, and which payment features actually work north of the border.
This is a research-based comparison. We did not use either product hands-on. Everything below comes from each vendor's public pricing pages and help centre documentation, checked in September 2026.
The quick answer
Pick Jobber if you are a Canadian solo operator or a crew of up to about 15, especially if you work in a province with separate GST and PST (British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) or in Quebec. Its tax groups show each tax separately on the invoice, its QuickBooks Online sync is documented as available in Canada, and it is a Canadian company with support hours published in Eastern Time.
Pick Housecall Pro if you run a residential HVAC or plumbing shop with a small team in a single-HST province (Ontario or Atlantic Canada) and want five users included at the mid tier, flat-rate pricing, and GPS tracking in one plan. Note that some of its payment features are US-only.
Both bill in US dollars.

Pricing: how much do Jobber and Housecall Pro cost in Canada?
Both vendors publish prices in US dollars. Jobber's pricing page states "All prices in USD," and its help centre article on subscribing says plans are listed in USD. Housecall Pro's pricing page says all prices are in USD and exclude sales tax. Neither publishes a Canadian dollar price list, so your real cost moves with the exchange rate, and your credit card may add a foreign transaction fee. Check your card terms before you commit.
Jobber prices by plan and team size. With one user on monthly billing, Core is USD $49/month, Connect is USD $139/month, and Grow is USD $199/month. Extra users cost USD $29/month each. Jobber also shows bundles by team size: with five users included, Connect is USD $199/month, Grow is USD $299/month, and Plus is USD $499/month. With 15 users included, Connect is USD $399/month, Grow is USD $499/month, and Plus is USD $699/month. The Plus plan is sold through Jobber's sales team.
Jobber's commitment options are cheaper. For one user, the regular prices its page lists once any introductory discount ends are USD $39 (Core), $119 (Connect), and $169 (Grow) a month on a one-year commitment, and USD $29, $99, and $149 a month on annual prepaid billing. Jobber often advertises limited-time discounts for new customers on top of these; we quote regular prices only. Paid add-ons include Marketing Suite at USD $99/month, the AI Receptionist at USD $29/month, and Pipeline at USD $49/month.
Housecall Pro has three plans. On monthly billing, Basic is USD $79/month with 1 user, Essentials is USD $189/month with 5 users, and Max is USD $329/month with 8 users, plus USD $35/month for each additional user on Max. Annual billing lowers these to USD $59, $149, and $299 per month. Housecall Pro's pricing page walks you through a short plan wizard, and it does not publish an extra-user price for Basic or Essentials.
What this means in practice: for a solo operator, Jobber Core is the cheaper entry point. For a five-person shop, Housecall Pro Essentials (USD $189/month, 5 users, with QuickBooks sync, GPS tracking, and flat-rate pricing) and Jobber Connect with five users (USD $199/month) land close together. Jobber gets more expensive at the top once you need its Grow or Plus features for a larger crew.
Quoting, scheduling, and dispatch
Both tools cover the core workflow on every plan. The differences show up in which plan unlocks what.
Jobber Core includes online booking and scheduling, quotes, invoices with online payments, a website builder, built-in reporting, and access to over 100 app integrations. Connect adds automated client reminders, automatic payment collection, job checklists, automated quote and invoice follow-ups, QuickBooks Online sync, and time and expense tracking. Grow adds quotes with photos and reviews, optional line items for upsells, automatic time tracking, job costing, two-way text messaging, and custom workflow automations. Plus adds crew scheduling, unlimited job photo and video storage, custom reports, Pipeline, Marketing Suite, the AI Receptionist, and dedicated onboarding.
Housecall Pro Basic includes online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments, a price book, job costing, and review management. Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, GPS tracking, commissions, and QuickBooks sync. Max adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, dedicated onboarding, and escalated support.
The pattern: Housecall Pro puts dispatch-oriented features (routes, GPS tracking, flat-rate pricing, commissions) in its mid tier, which suits HVAC and plumbing shops that price by flat rate and pay techs on commission. Jobber puts more of its quoting and automation depth (optional line items, job costing, two-way texting) in Grow, which suits trades where winning the quote is the hard part, like landscaping, renovation, and exterior cleaning.
Invoicing with GST, HST, and PST
This is the biggest practical difference for Canadian businesses, and it depends on your province.
Ontario charges 13% HST, Nova Scotia 14%, and New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and PEI 15%. In those provinces you charge one tax, so any tool that applies one rate per invoice is fine. British Columbia charges 5% GST plus 7% PST. Saskatchewan and Manitoba also have separate provincial sales taxes, and Quebec has the QST on top of GST. There you often need two taxes on the same invoice. For the full list, see our GST, HST, and PST rates by province guide or the sales tax calculator.
Jobber lets you create multiple tax rates and combine them into a tax group. Its help centre says the rates will appear individually on the client's quote or invoice, so a BC customer sees GST and PST as separate lines. You can set a default rate, assign a rate to a specific client property (which overrides the default for all their quotes and invoices), or pick one per quote or invoice. You can also add your tax ID name and number, such as your GST number, and Jobber prints it on every invoice automatically.
Housecall Pro documents a simpler model. Its help centre states that only one tax rate can be applied to an invoice at a time. You can create custom rates and mark price book items as taxable. In an HST province that works. In BC or Quebec, you would need to create a single combined rate, which means one tax line rather than separate GST and PST or QST amounts. If your bookkeeper needs those taxes tracked separately for filing, plan for that extra step.
Online payments in Canada
Jobber Payments is Jobber's built-in processor. Its help centre says it is available in the UK, US, and Canada, and that payment integrations support accounts in Canada in CAD. Payouts go to your bank on a two-business-day rolling window after an initial five-business-day hold on your first payment. Jobber's pricing page lists card processing at 2.9% plus 30 cents, Tap to Pay at 2.7% plus 30 cents, and bank payments at 1%, but it does not say which country those rates apply to, and the help centre directs you to your account settings for your rates. Treat the published numbers as a guide and confirm the Canadian rates during your trial.
Housecall Pro also processes payments for Canadian accounts. Its help centre describes a director verification step for Canadian corporations when you set up payouts, checked against provincial or federal business registries. Its pricing page says card processing rates start at 2.59% and bank payments cost 1%, but its help centre says ACH bank payments are only available to businesses based in the US, so Canadian accounts get card payments only. Its Instapay feature (faster payouts) costs 1% on top of standard processing fees, plus 75 cents on transactions under $75, and has a $10,000 per-transaction limit for Pros in Canada, compared with $50,000 in the US.
Several Housecall Pro features are documented as unavailable in Canada:
- Its card reader hardware ("Card readers are not currently available in Canada," per the help centre)
- Wisetack consumer financing
- Force vehicle GPS fleet tracking (documented as US-only)
Its pricing page still lists "Payments & consumer financing" as a plan feature, so read the Canadian exceptions before you count on those. If you want a separate processor for in-person payments, see our Square vs Moneris vs Helcim comparison.
QuickBooks Online Canada and accounting sync
Neither tool is accounting software, so the sync to your books matters.
Jobber documents that its QuickBooks Online sync is available in Canada and the United States. It syncs clients, products and services, timesheets, invoices, payments, refunds, tips, and payouts to QuickBooks Online. The sync starts on the Connect plan, so it is not included in Core. Jobber also syncs with Xero.
Housecall Pro includes QuickBooks Online sync from the Essentials plan and also has a QuickBooks Desktop integration. Its help documentation covers the integration in detail, but we could not find an official page confirming support for the Canadian edition of QuickBooks Online or explaining how Canadian tax codes sync. Test this with your own QuickBooks file during the free trial before you move your business over.
If you have not chosen your books yet, our best accounting software in Canada review and FreshBooks vs QuickBooks comparison cover the options.
Mobile apps and support
Both have iOS and Android apps for field staff. Housecall Pro says its app is available in English and Spanish and supports offline viewing. Jobber's app is available in Spanish for select team members. We did not find French-language support documented on either vendor's pricing pages, which matters if your crew or customers are in Quebec.
For support, Jobber's help centre lists phone, email, and chat, with live support Monday to Friday during published Eastern Time hours, and an AI assistant outside those hours. Housecall Pro publishes phone support Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific, with chat also open Sunday. For Atlantic Canada, Housecall Pro's weekday hours run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time.
Canadian fit: what actually differs
Pulling the Canada-specific points together:
- Currency: both bill in USD. No advantage either way.
- Company location: Jobber is headquartered in Edmonton. Housecall Pro is a US company.
- Sales tax: Jobber supports tax groups with separate lines. Housecall Pro applies one rate per invoice.
- Payments: both process payments for Canadian accounts. Housecall Pro documents card readers, Wisetack financing, and one GPS integration as unavailable in Canada, and a lower Instapay limit.
- Accounting: Jobber documents QuickBooks Online sync as available in Canada. Housecall Pro does not say either way.
- Support hours: Jobber publishes Eastern Time hours. Housecall Pro publishes Pacific Time hours, including Saturday phone support.

Housecall Pro
Who should pick which
Solo operators (any trade). Jobber Core at USD $49/month is the lower entry price. If you need QuickBooks sync, budget for Connect.
Landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and exterior cleaning. Jobber. These trades live on quotes and repeat visits, and Jobber's Grow plan adds optional line items for upsells and two-way texting. Many of these businesses are seasonal, so check each vendor's cancellation terms before you pick annual billing.
HVAC and plumbing, 3 to 8 techs, in an HST province. Housecall Pro is a strong fit. Essentials includes 5 users, flat-rate pricing, GPS tracking, and commissions, and Max adds recurring service plans for maintenance agreements. In Ontario or Atlantic Canada, one tax rate per invoice covers what you charge.
Any trade in BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Quebec. Jobber, because of tax groups. Housecall Pro can still work with a combined rate, but check with your bookkeeper first.
Electricians and general contractors doing project work. Jobber's job costing (Grow) and quote customization fit project-style jobs. Neither tool is construction accounting software, so you will still need proper books.
Crews of 10 to 15. Compare Jobber's 15-user bundles (Grow at USD $499/month, Plus at USD $699/month) against Housecall Pro Max (USD $329/month for 8 users plus USD $35/month per extra user, which comes to USD $574/month for 15 users). Housecall Pro is cheaper on paper at this size, but weigh that against the Canadian tax and payment differences above.
Our verdict
4.5For most Canadian trades, Jobber is the better fit. Both tools bill in USD, but Jobber's documented features line up more closely with how Canadian businesses invoice: tax groups that show GST and PST separately, a QuickBooks Online sync documented as available in Canada, and payments supported in CAD. Housecall Pro is a solid choice for HVAC and plumbing shops in single-HST provinces that want routes, GPS tracking, and five users on the mid tier, for shops that do not need its card readers and consumer financing, which are not available in Canada. Use both free trials with a real job before you decide.
