Web Hosting Canada (WHC) is a Montreal-based host that sells cPanel shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, business email, domains and servers, all priced in Canadian dollars. Its shared plans include email mailboxes, backups and an SSL certificate, and you choose whether your site lives in Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver when you order. WHC has operated since 2003.
This review covers what WHC costs on each term, what it renews at, what every plan includes, email and .ca domains, which data centre to pick for your province or city, support, and the refund policy. WHC is our top pick in the best web hosting in Canada, where we compare it with CanSpace, HostPapa, Kinsta, WP Engine and Cloudways.
How we evaluated
This is a research-based review. We did not buy or use WHC hosting. Every price, limit and policy below comes from WHC's own website: its hosting, WordPress, WooCommerce, email and domain pages, its shopping cart, its help centre, its blog post on hosting regions, its about page and its terms of service, checked in October 2026.
We judged WHC on what matters to a small business choosing a host:
- Cost: first-term prices on every term, renewal prices, and what a domain costs
- Limits: websites, mailboxes and mailbox size, sending limits and backups
- What's included: SSL, CDN, migrations, staging and support
- Policies: refunds, renewals, uptime and support guarantees
- Canadian fit: data centre regions, currency, sales tax and French support
We compared WHC with other hosts using the figures in our Canadian web hosting, managed WordPress hosting, Kinsta and Cloudways reviews.
Web Hosting Canada pricing
WHC's main shared hosting product is called Canadian Web Hosting, with three plans: GO, PRO and Enterprise. The advertised prices are for a 36-month term paid upfront, and they apply to the first billing cycle on new online orders.
| Feature | GO | PRO | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| First 36 months | C$140.04 | C$141.12 | C$428.04 |
| Monthly equivalent | C$3.89 | C$3.92 | C$11.89 |
| Renewal (pricing page, 3-year term) | C$6.99/mo | C$9.99/mo | C$19.50/mo |
| Renewal (cart, 36-month term) | C$6.99/mo | C$10.99/mo | C$21.50/mo |
| Websites | 1 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Mailboxes | 1 (up to 1 GB) | Unlimited (up to 2 GB each) | Unlimited (up to 5 GB each) |
| Free domain (first year) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Global CDN | No | Yes | Yes |
PRO is the better value for most businesses. For C$1.08 more than GO over the first 36 months, PRO adds unlimited websites and mailboxes, a first-year domain, the global CDN, SSH access and double GO's memory. WHC's own plan guide describes GO as best for personal websites or small, non-commercial projects, and PRO as the plan for business websites and growing WordPress sites.
Renewal prices. WHC's pricing page shows "Renews at" prices of C$6.99, C$9.99 and C$19.50 a month. When we added each plan to WHC's cart on October 29, 2026, the cart showed a 36-month renewal of C$6.99 for GO, C$10.99 for PRO and C$21.50 for Enterprise. WHC's fine print says the renewal pricing shown "may change at any time", and its terms say services renew at their regular rates, shown on your invoice or in your Client Area. Check the "Plan will renew" line in the cart before you pay. The cart's 36-month totals for PRO (C$141.24) and Enterprise (C$427.87) were also a few cents different from the plan cards.

WHC's fine print says shorter billing cycles are available at checkout. These are the first-term totals WHC's cart showed for each term, with the introductory discount applied (checked October 29, 2026):
| Plan | Shortest term | 12 months | 24 months | 36 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO | C$16.68 for 3 months | C$60.04 (C$5.00/mo) | C$106.71 (C$4.45/mo) | C$140.04 (C$3.89/mo) |
| PRO | C$14.99 for 1 month | C$55.65 (C$4.64/mo) | C$102.73 (C$4.28/mo) | C$141.12 (C$3.92/mo) |
| Enterprise | C$25.50 for 1 month | C$155.89 (C$12.99/mo) | C$298.51 (C$12.44/mo) | C$428.04 (C$11.89/mo) |
The cart lists GO's regular rates as C$9.99 a month on a 3-month term, C$8.99 on 12 months, C$7.99 on 24 months and C$6.99 on 36 months. For PRO, the regular rates are C$14.99 a month on 1 month, C$12.99 on 12 months, C$11.99 on 24 months and C$10.99 on 36 months. Enterprise is C$25.50, C$23.50, C$22.50 and C$21.50. The 1-month PRO and Enterprise terms are billed at the regular rate, with no introductory discount.
Over 12 months, PRO (C$55.65) cost slightly less than GO (C$60.04) in the cart when we checked, so a business that wants a 1-year term can go straight to PRO.
What three and six years cost
| Plan | First 3 years | Next 3 years | Total over 6 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| GO | C$140.04 | C$251.64 (C$6.99/mo) | C$391.68 |
| PRO, pricing page renewal | C$141.12 | C$359.64 (C$9.99/mo) | C$500.76 |
| PRO, cart renewal | C$141.12 | C$395.64 (C$10.99/mo) | C$536.76 |
Totals are before tax and assume renewal for another 36 months at the rate shown. The PRO renewal includes the domain only for the first year; after that, the domain renews at its regular price (C$14.99 a year for a .ca).
WordPress and WooCommerce hosting
WHC also sells Managed Hosting for WordPress, with automatic WordPress updates, daily backups with 1-click restores, multi-level caching and free WordPress migration. Each plan hosts one WordPress site:
| Plan | First 36 months | Renewal (cart, 36-month term) | Storage | Visitors per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP Go | C$143.70 (C$3.99/mo) | C$7.99/mo | 10 GB | Up to 25,000 |
| WP Pro | C$215.63 (C$5.99/mo) | C$12.99/mo | 25 GB | Up to 100,000 |
| WP Beast | C$431.47 (C$11.99/mo) | C$24.50/mo | 50 GB | Up to 500,000 |
One-click staging and the global CDN are listed on WP Pro and WP Beast. WHC's WordPress comparison table lists email accounts as an add-on on all three WordPress plans, and the cart offers Professional Email at C$2.99 a month. If you want mailboxes included in the hosting price, the Canadian Web Hosting plans above include them.
For online stores, WHC sells a single WooCommerce plan, listed at C$14.99 a month. In the cart, that was C$539.61 for 36 months, renewing at C$24.50 a month on a 36-month term. WHC lists unlimited products and orders, 50 GB of NVMe storage, up to 500,000 visitors a month, daily off-site backups, a free domain and SSL, and says it takes no commission on sales; your payment processor charges its own fees. Our guide to starting an online store in Canada and Shopify vs WooCommerce in Canada cover the wider choice.
WHC also sells reseller hosting, Canadian VPS, dedicated servers and private cloud. This review focuses on shared and WordPress hosting, which suit most small business sites.
What every plan includes
WHC's comparison table lists the following on all three Canadian Web Hosting plans:
- cPanel control panel with CloudLinux, and a 1-click installer for 300+ apps, including WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and PrestaShop
- Unlimited SSD storage and traffic, which WHC defines as regular small business use under its Acceptable Use Policy
- SSL certificate, firewall protection and brute-force protection
- Automated backups, up to 10 GB on GO, 25 GB on PRO and 50 GB on Enterprise, with free rollbacks from the control panel
- Free site transfer and WHC's AI site builder, content creator and WordPress assistant
- 24/7 server monitoring and a 99.9% uptime guarantee
- 30-day money-back guarantee
What PRO and Enterprise add. The global CDN, SSH access, cron jobs, WP-CLI, anti-malware detection, Anycast DNS, site quality monitoring, mailing lists and the email marketing platform (500 contacts on PRO, 1,000 on Enterprise) are listed on PRO and Enterprise; on GO, several of these are add-ons. WHC's table also shows performance limits by plan:
| Plan | CPU | Memory | I/O speed | Entry processes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO | 100% | 768 MB | 4 MB/s | 25 |
| PRO | 150% | 1,572 MB | 8 MB/s | 50 |
| Enterprise | 200% | 3,144 MB | 16 MB/s | 100 |
Backups. WHC's terms describe its backups as a courtesy service and ask customers to keep their own copies of their data. They also say accounts using more than 10 GB of disk space or more than 100,000 files may have automatic backups turned off to protect server performance; backups can be turned back on after freeing up space. For a larger site, download a backup from cPanel regularly.
Migrations. WHC's help centre says any web hosting plan includes 1 free site transfer, requested within 30 days of activation, from a compatible host. A site is one cPanel account under 10 GB, or one website with up to 10 GB of files and 3 MySQL databases. Sites built on proprietary builders such as Wix and Squarespace can't be transferred. Additional transfers are billed at WHC's hourly rate.
Email is part of the Canadian Web Hosting plans, so you can run you@yourbusiness.ca on the same bill as your website:
- GO: 1 email account of up to 1 GB, up to 50 outgoing emails an hour
- PRO: unlimited mailboxes of up to 2 GB each, up to 200 outgoing emails an hour
- Enterprise: unlimited mailboxes of up to 5 GB each, up to 300 outgoing emails an hour
Every plan lists webmail, POP3 and IMAP, standard anti-spam and anti-virus, redirects and auto-responders. WHC's Enterprise Anti-Spam is an add-on, with a free 30-day trial and then C$5.99 a month in the cart.
If you need more space or shared calendars, WHC sells Business Email separately, from C$5.49 a month. It includes 10 email addresses and 50 GB of total storage, CalDAV and CardDAV calendar and contact sharing, and unlimited aliases and forwarders, and WHC says it is hosted in Canada. You can add capacity in steps of 10 addresses and 50 GB.
Domains and .ca addresses
WHC is accredited by CIRA, the .ca registry, and its domain page lists these prices (checked October 2026):
| Domain | First year | Renewal |
|---|---|---|
| .ca | C$10.99 | C$14.99/yr |
| .com | C$15.49 | C$19.99/yr |
| .org | C$16.49 | C$24.99/yr |
PRO and Enterprise include one domain registration for a year, or one transfer with a 1-year extension, for a .ca, .com, .org, .net, .info or .biz address, when the plan is prepaid for at least a year. The domain then renews at WHC's regular price. On GO, the domain is billed at the standard price. Our guide to registering a .ca domain covers who can hold a .ca and compares prices at several registrars.
Data centres: which region to pick for your province or city
WHC says all its servers are in Canada. On Canadian Web Hosting plans, the cart asks you to choose a server location: Canada Eastern (Montreal), Canada Central (Toronto) or Canada Western (Vancouver). If you are already a customer, WHC says its support team can migrate you to another region. WHC's WordPress cart did not show a region picker when we checked, so ask WHC which region a WordPress plan will use if it matters to you.
WHC's own guidance on choosing a region:
- Montreal (Canada Eastern): "Ideal for clients targeting audiences in Quebec and the Maritimes," and suited to bilingual sites
- Toronto (Canada Central): "A balanced choice for nationwide coverage"
- Vancouver (Canada Western): "The best choice for clients targeting audiences in British Columbia and Alberta"
By province and city:
- British Columbia (Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna): choose Vancouver.
- Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton): WHC does not list an Alberta data centre, and it recommends Vancouver for Alberta audiences. Our Canadian web hosting guide covers Alberta's notice rule for service providers outside Canada; all three WHC regions are in Canada.
- Ontario (Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton): Toronto suits most Ontario businesses, and customers spread across Canada. Ottawa sits between Toronto and Montreal, so either region suits an Ottawa business; a business in Gatineau would also read the Quebec point below.
- Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau): choose Montreal. Quebec requires a privacy impact assessment before personal information is hosted outside Quebec, and Montreal keeps the site in the province. Our Canadian web hosting guide explains the rule.
- Atlantic Canada (Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Charlottetown, St. John's): WHC does not list a data centre in the Atlantic provinces, and it recommends Montreal for the Maritimes.
- Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the territories: WHC does not name a region for these. Toronto is WHC's suggestion for audiences across Canada; choose the region closest to most of your customers.
PRO and Enterprise also include WHC's global CDN, which serves your site's content from servers close to each visitor. WHC says its data centres are SOC 2 certified and powered by renewable energy, with hydroelectricity from Quebec and British Columbia.
Support
WHC's contact page lists 24/7 phone support at 1-514-228-1830 and 1-888-545-3942 (toll-free), and 24/7 live chat. Its hosting page says support is bilingual, in English and French, from a Canadian-based team. WHC's comparison table lists toll-free phone support on PRO and Enterprise, and as an add-on on GO.
WHC's terms include a support guarantee: a response to technical tickets sent through the Client Area within 24 hours. If a ticket is not answered in that time, you can request an account credit of 25% of your pre-tax monthly fee per incident, up to 100% of the monthly fee.
Money-back guarantee, renewals and fine print
Refunds. WHC's refund policy covers most products during an initial period, for services prepaid for 3 months or more:
| Service | Refund period |
|---|---|
| Web hosting, WordPress hosting, reseller hosting | 30 days |
| Business email | 30 days |
| SSL certificate | 30 days after it is issued |
| Domain registration, renewal and privacy protection | Not refundable |
| Any eligible service paid monthly | 7 days |
To get a refund, cancel the service and send a written request with the invoice number from the Client Area. WHC's terms say refunds go back to the original credit card or PayPal account, generally within 7 days, and that payments by cheque, e-transfer or wire are refunded as account credit. If a free domain came with your hosting, its full value is kept from the refund. WHC issues a refund for the same type of product once per account.
Renewals. WHC creates renewal invoices at least 15 days before a service expires and charges the card on file 5 days before the due date. To stop a renewal, cancel through the Client Area at least 10 days before the renewal date. WHC's help centre says a renewal can be refunded up to 5 days after it renews if you cancel immediately and open a billing ticket.
Uptime. WHC guarantees 99.9% server availability each month. If an unscheduled outage lasts more than 0.1% of a month (about 43 minutes), you can request a credit of 5% of your pre-tax monthly fee for every additional hour, up to 100% of the monthly fee. Scheduled maintenance is not counted.
Payment and tax. WHC's terms say payments are made in Canadian dollars, by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal (which covers American Express), and by cheque, Interac e-Transfer or wire for amounts over C$50. Invoice items are listed before tax, and WHC's help centre says provincial and/or federal taxes are added to each invoice. Our GST, HST and PST rates by province guide lists the rates.
Who runs Web Hosting Canada
WHC describes itself as a privately owned Canadian technology and IT infrastructure company based in Montreal, operating since 2003. Its terms say the service is operated by WHC Online Solutions Inc., and its about page names Emil Falcon as founder and CEO. WHC says it is accredited by ICANN and by CIRA, the .ca registry, and is an official cPanel and CloudLinux partner. It reports more than 75,000 customers and more than 470,000 websites hosted. Its office is at 7250 Clark Street, Montreal.
What we like and what to know
WHC's strengths for a Canadian small business are local: Canadian dollar pricing, a choice of three Canadian regions at checkout, bilingual 24/7 phone and chat support, and email mailboxes on the same bill as the website. PRO costs almost the same as GO for the first 36 months and includes unlimited sites and mailboxes, a domain and the CDN. Keep in mind that the lowest prices apply to a 36-month prepayment, that renewal rates are higher than the first term, and that the cart's renewal rate for PRO and Enterprise was higher than the pricing page's when we checked.

Web Hosting Canada
Who Web Hosting Canada is for (and when another host fits better)
WHC is a good fit if you:
- Run a small business website and want email at your domain included in the hosting price
- Want your site hosted in a specific Canadian city, such as Montreal for a Quebec business or Vancouver for B.C. and Alberta
- Want to pay in Canadian dollars with GST/HST on a Canadian invoice
- Want phone support, in English or French, at any hour
- Use WordPress, WooCommerce or another cPanel app and are happy with shared hosting
Another host may fit better if you:
- Want a price that stays the same at renewal: CanSpace says its prices are not introductory, covered in the best web hosting in Canada
- Want a fully managed WordPress platform with malware cleanup and unlimited migrations included: see our Kinsta review
- Are a developer or agency who wants to pick and size your own cloud server: see our Cloudways review
- Want a hosted store platform rather than WordPress: see Shopify vs WooCommerce in Canada
Alternatives
Our best web hosting in Canada review ranks WHC first, and compares it with:
- CanSpace: a Canadian host with servers in Beauharnois, Quebec, whose Starter plan renews at the same price you sign up at.
- HostPapa: a Canadian host with a Toronto data centre and the lowest first-term price in that guide.
- Kinsta: fully managed WordPress from USD $35 a month or $350 a year, with data centres in Montreal and Toronto and email from a separate provider. See our Kinsta review.
- Cloudways: managed cloud servers from USD $11 a month, billed by the hour, with Toronto, Montreal and Calgary options. See our Cloudways review and Cloudways vs Kinsta.
For WordPress specifically, our best managed WordPress hosting review compares SiteGround, Kinsta, WP Engine and Cloudways.
Our verdict
4.5Web Hosting Canada is the best fit for most Canadian small businesses that want simple, affordable hosting with email included. It prices in Canadian dollars, lets you choose Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver at checkout, and lists 24/7 bilingual phone and chat support. PRO is the plan to choose: at C$141.12 for the first 36 months, it is C$1.08 more than GO and adds unlimited sites and mailboxes, a first-year domain and the CDN. It rates 4.5 because the lowest prices need a 36-month prepayment and renewals cost more than the first term, so budget for the renewal rate shown in the cart, and keep your own backups if your site grows past 10 GB.
